Negotiations in progress. Vote expected soon.

(THE UNDERGROUND) The Nome Guild, representing more than 17,000 rock- and gem-mining workers, is threatening to walk out of the Nome King’s mines unless the Realm agrees to a new contract.

Workers are asking for better food, softer beds, and more personal time.

The Guild has already backed away from a demand for sick time.

“Our members work really hard and we deserve to be treated fairly. The King’s offer is insulting and we won’t stand for it. We’re ready to strike if we have to,” a Guild spokesperson tells OPR.

Negotiations are reportedly progressing very slowly.

Kaliko, the Nome King’s personal spokesperson, says the kingdom’s last, best, and final offer is likely to be submitted as early as today.

“We’ve been negotiating in good faith and we think this offer is reasonable,” Kaliko said during a news conference. “We have to consider the financial impacts to the Kingdom. We’re open to discussions. We hope we can avoid a strike.”

The King is demanding a vote on his proposal immediately and is threatening exile to the surface for workers who vote against it.

The Guild says it will not be intimidated by the King’s threats.
