Ozball
Ozball is the national sport of Oz.
The season begins with early training in April and May with competition running through the summer months. The league championships are in September and the National Tournament is in October.
Most professional teams play at least two matches per week during season, traveling from pitch to pitch, throughout Oz and the surrounding countries. Collegiate schedules favor a once-per-week competition so student athletes have time to focus on their studies.
Amateur Ozball Teams
Many local communities have their own Ozball leagues and competitions, often starting with youngling opportunities and continuing through adulthood. Most schools, colleges, and universities also have their own teams and leagues, fostering a competitive spirit across much of the country.
Collegiate Ozball Teams
The collegiate teams are divided into two leagues. Each league has a top team by the end of the season. And those top teams compete every September for the Emerald Cup, the coveted trophy for the amateur National Champions. The trophy is a floating disk of shimmering emerald with gold and silver edging, suspended above a green glass base, enchanted to slowly pulse with a gentle light. The glowing names of past champions slowly orbit around the edge of the central disk.
The Emerald League
Tradition, prestige, centrality, and academic powerhouses.
The league championship is the Emerald Scepter symbolizing the rule of order, tradition, and magical control. The trophy is a tall crystalline pillar shaped like a twisted emerald flame, crowned with a rotating Glowball and etched with the winning team’s sigil.

One of the major rivalries in the division is between the Royal Academy and Shiz. The winner of The Wizard’s Bowl is awarded a book-shaped trophy, in the style of The Grimmerie. The winning team also adds a magical proverb commemorating the achievement to an ancient scroll kept in the Royal Archive.
The Diamond League
Frontier energy, innovation, bold playstyles, and rising challengers.
The league championship is known as the Thunder Bowl with a nod to industry, intensity, and competition. The trophy is a gleaming alloy tower with enchanted sparks in motion and a central spinning ring representing raw energy and innovation. The winning team’s sigil is etched into the base of the tower.

The most famous rivalry in the league is between the Universities of Ev and Ix. The victor is awarded the Obsidian Spring, a dark, reflective trophy with a coiled spring at its core. Per ancient tradition, the teams exchange encrypted messages before the game, and the messages are decoded by students during halftime.
Professional Ozball Teams
Professional Ozball teams often have sponsors and each community is responsible for building and maintaining their own playing grounds. A few, elite players have become cultural touchstones in Oz with fans looking up to them for inspiration.
The National Ozball League divides teams into two divisions. Teams compete to win their division championship and then move on to the National Ozball Tournament to crown a World Champion squad.

National Ozball Tournament
Professional teams that win their respective division, compete in a multi-day, multi-match tournament to crown a winning, international team: the year’s World Champions. The National Ozball Tournament is hosted at Pipt Field in the Emerald City every October to wrap up the season.
